After studying about dots and lines, I guess I will see them everywhere now :)
A simple blog which will represent my journey and growth through college and life. It is more like a virtual diary or journal. :)

Weird thoughts :S
We all must have seen one movie in our lives that has travelling into the future or the past. The best one according to me would be Back to the future, if you haven't seen it then you are missing out on some crazy stuff. The other would be the movie Star Trek. I mean there are loads of time travellîng movies to choose from. You can go to IMDb and see a whole bunch of them right here.
Okay now back to the topic of weird thoughts. While I couldn't sleep the other night because of a creepy post I had read on Facebook I was in my deep thinking mode. You know the mode when you start thinking about life and its choices., basically the mode of some really serious thinking? That's exactly what I was in~the deep thinking mode. While I was deeply thinking about life, mysteries, psychopaths and ghosts I stumbled upon time travel. Luckily for me I didn't have to think about the horrific things I was thinking about earlier because the whole concept of time travel really confused me.
Do you know why? Well, here it goes. It is really confusing. Don't think that I didn't warn you :|
Okay, so lets call the person who will be travelling A and the place he is in currently is 1. Now our friend A here is going to travel into the past or the future (whichever you are comfortable with) and it is called 2. He goes there does all his stuff and instantly dies so won't his life become a loop? Usually lives are like straight lines, starts at X and ends at Y so won't A's life get repeated over and over again like a song that is stuck on a broken music player? The whole concept of a life like a loop is morbid.
And right after realizing how sad the whole thing seemed I went right back to square one, which is scary thoughts :/ ugh.
By the way did you know there is a certain face of a man that has appeared in the dreams of over 2000 people? Unbelievable isn't it? He talks to the person who is dreaming and actually gives them advice.
Wow.

Cut off from the world :3
Have you ever felt incomplete? Did you think that something was missing or missing out on something really important? That's how I feel right now. That's exactly how I feel without my phone. I am probably a very careless person to lose such an important thing because during this day and age I really don't think a person is capable of losing their phone since this very important piece of technology is always glued to our hands or we are connected to it through our headphones.
I basically can't connect with anybody. I feel weird. Really. Scared too :3 (Mum's the word :P) I feel slightly annoyed as well because I had all my stuff for my blog in there, some really good songs and a whole bunch of really nice pictures of the night life of Singapore. Forget slightly annoyed because i might actually be furious soon :/ I guess I will just have to start from scratch. :|
Ugh.
Useless fact~ my roommate's ringtone is 'I am a Barbie girl!'
Now I haven't heard that in a loooong time. :D
Does creativity slowly disappear with age?
In our Creative Thinking module all of us were watching a video by Tim Brown called Tales of creativity and play on ted.com. In the beginning of the video he is talking about the judgement of our peers which leads to a fear within people to share their ideas. He then talks about kids who willingly share their work with anybody who is interested to look at it. This part right here states the very obvious, as we grow older and more intelligent we tend to become more afraid and this forms restrictions on our ideas and beliefs as well. No matter how grown up we call ourselves we will still be afraid of judgement and other people's behaviour towards us.
I believe that we should be capable of expressing our ideas and thoughts irrespective of someone's reactions such that it doesn't create a block in the creative development of a person. Due to this fear and constant criticism from others our creative process has a tendency to become stagnant. Such that the creative thinking of someone doesn't slowly die down one should be able to take the criticism or just completely ignore it.
No matter what day or age it might be anything different or unique will always be criticised just because it is something new. Just because we are so used to the 'normal' we tend to over think about the new and scrutinise it under a new light. For the very same reason creativity slowly disappears with age because through creativity we come up with something new which is not always welcomed.

Colours, sunshine and everything nice :)
Earlier this week in our Creative Thinking module we were asked to write about one favourite thing in Singapore. I know that deciding on one single thing can be quite difficult and I actually had a hard time choosing. Finally, I decided to go with something that (according to me) describes Singapore best and that would be the building of the Ministry of Communications and Information (MCI). Yes, the white building with the colourful windows on Hill Street.
Why I chose the MCI? The answer is simple. According to me the windows of this building represent the diversity of Singapore. Also, the colours show the different lifestyles of the people living here. Just by looking at the building one can feel delighted and at the same time be in awe of its colours and how everything seems to blend into one complete visual composition even though they are different colours.
The building for the MCI was actually the old hill street police station. On a personal opinion I would have never thought that the building for a police station would be so colourful. With a building like this I am sure that police station would have been a happy place :)
The second best part is that the building is situated right next to Clark Quay, the hub of night life of Singapore. Both together can express the distinctiveness of Singapore in uniformity. Although both symbolise very different things but if you see them together you realise they are in complete harmony.
I think that the coloured windows are very symbolic for the MCI's vision which is to build a nation of connected people and achieve a better quality of life through mainly three things and one of them is developing vibrant information communication, media and design sectors (There is no way in the world I would have known about the vision of MCI so lets thank Wikipedia for that :D)
Good night :)

Usually people would consider the Esplanade or the Merlion as their favourite spot in Singapore but I chose otherwise because I truly believe that the MCI building is very different from all the other buildings solely because of its coloured windows. That's what actually pulled me towards it when I was happily going the other way in my early days in Singapore. I will not lie, I was wandering around but I guess it was good because I wouldn't have seen this building then. I guess the quote by J.R.R Tolkien, 'Not all those who wander are lost' holds very true here. I believe you need to get lost to find something and that's exactly what happened here :)Good night :)

Day 2 ends with a bang or rather the day off before Day 3 starts with a bang :)
So today or you can call it yesterday my classmates and I had learnt about elements of design by watching a video called (yes, you guessed it) elements of design. It is a very simple and short video with doodles explaining the basics of design. I won't go into the details but it is definitely a must watch.
Anyhow, other than that we all got assignments and were told about our group projects. So for our assignment in 2D fundamentals today we had to draw or rather create an image with dots and lines. Sooo...it wasn't easy. It was like making *blind portraits, you know what you have to draw but you don't know where to start or how to do it. I am not yet satisfied with my first attempt so why not give it a few more tries :D BUT just because its difficult does not mean its not fun (exactly like blind portraits)
*blind portraits are portraits of people that you draw but the catch is that a) you can't look at the sheet of paper and b) you can't lift your pencil or pen. :D
