There was a movie going on at the back of the gallery called Angst Essen/Eat Fear by Ming Wong. It's a 27 minute movie and is a reconstruction of a Fassbinder movie, Angst Essen Seele auf (1973), it tells the story of a relationship between Emmi and Ali. They both belong to very different sections of society, one is an old cleaning lady whereas the other is an immigrant worker and the story shows the setbacks of being in love especially when it's not meant to be. The unique part about this movie is that Ming plays all the roles and by all I do mean each and every role. It was quite confusing and creepy at first but when you start understanding the movie you realise that if it hadn't been this way then you wouldn't be paying attention to every character. Another unique aspect of the movie was that it wasn't in English or Chinese but German, which meant that we'd to read every subtitle. All in all it was a good experience because it was something I had never seen before.
A simple blog which will represent my journey and growth through college and life. It is more like a virtual diary or journal. :)

75 years, three quarters of a century
Made in Singapore is an art exhibition that is taking place or rather took place in the galleries of my college from 29th of August to today, that is the 7th of September. This exhibition shows the current art trends through the NAFA alumni's art works. While I walked through the gallery I came across varying design works and art works, one couldn't easily decide which one was more interesting. I heard the excited squeals and gossiping of the students who were walking beside me and that showed that even the younger generations have a growing interest in this field. The one artwork that piqued everyone's interest would most probably be (in my opinion) Gekko & Nikko by Ang Soo Koon. The artist states that 'Gekko & Nikko, meaning Moon & Sun, are a pair of lollipop-like objects that as neo-artefacts inspire the sense of ethereal in the tradition of historical art objects.' The reason why I think this was one of the most interesting visual displays is because they reminded me of twins. I don't know why but they reminded me of two very young girls, probably because of the hands that are holding them. :)
